Common questions
How does location work?
Allowing location is optional. Bar Fest uses Always and While Using the App location allowances in different ways.
Other people cannot see your personal location. Bar Fest ties location to an anonymous ID stored on your device and shows venue activity as counts, not as a map of where you are.
With Always, Bar Fest can update your venue presence while you are out, including when the app is in the background. Those updates can continue in the background so live headcounts stay more current. That presence can contribute to live headcounts.
With While Using the App, Bar Fest may record a venue you were recently in while the app was open. That information contributes to Recent Activity. It is not a live headcount.
You can change or turn off location anytime in iOS Settings → Bar Fest → Location.
Is chat anonymous?
Yes. Bar Fest does not ask you to create an account. Chat is tied to an anonymous ID stored on your device. Posts can show a chosen avatar (an icon and color). They do not show your name, phone number, email, or any other piece of personal information.
How do I report a chat message or a bad listing?
In chat, use Report on the message. For a wrong venue, deal, event, or other listing problem, email iedwards@interamicos.com.
